Description

The photo detector type 48PD-BPX61 is designed to be integrated into the multicube system. With the photo detector you can build a power monitor such as it is used in the Fiber Port Clusters.
The photo detector is based on a Silicon PIN photodiode type OSRAM BPX61 with a spectral range 400 - 1100 nm. Its aperture is Ø 2.6 mm.
In order to avoid back reflection it is mounted with an angle of  3°.

For a linear response you have to short-circuit the photodiode using a resistor. Then the voltage drop is measured along this resistor. The resistance you need for a linear response of the system depends on the optical wavelengh and the optical power level.
The photo diode is delivered without resistor.

As an alternative you also can use a transimpedance amplifier.
