The fiber cables with vacuum feed-through made by Schäfter+Kirchhoff are equipped with single-mode fibers, polarizationmaintaining single-mode or multi-mode fibers for wavelengths from 360 to 1800 nm (in case of single-mode: cut off wavelengths 360–1550 nm with a bandwidth up to 300 nm).
The feed-throughs are suitable for vacuums down to 10-7 mbar and are supplied with either a small flange KF16 (DIN 28403, stainless steel) or a screw-type flange (M12×1 mm, nickel silver).
Also available are multiple fiber cable feed-throughs with flange type KF40 or KF50. Arbitrary fiber cable types can be combined in one flange. On the vacuum side, the fiber cables have a Ø 900 μm buffer made of Hytrel. Outside the vacuum, there is a Ø3 mm cable with Kevlar strain-relief at the fiber connector and at the flange.
For vacuum feed-throughs with single-mode fibers, the connector away from the vacuum can be core-aligned as an option (< 0.5 μm).
Single-mode and polarization-maintaining fiber cables can be equipped with end caps for reducing the power density at the fiber end-face (type V-E).
