The new color line scan cameras from Schäfter+Kirchhoff SK22500CNEC-XC and SK22800CJRC-XC with 3×7500 pixels and 3×7600 pixels are ideal for high-resolution surface inspection, for example in the timber and printing industries. Both cameras are equipped with a Camera Link interface. With pixel frequencies up to 210 MHz (3×70 MHz) line rates of 8.9 kHz can be achieved. With pixel sizes of 9.3×9.3 microns, the cameras are very sensitive. The triple-line sensors have between the RGB sensor lines a small Line-Spacing of one respective two-times pixel height. Thus, the color convergence error scanning free moving objects is small, for example when used in bulk sorting. In conjunction with high-resolution lenses the color line scan cameras also are suitable for use in microscopy.

Fiber cables open up new vistas for the design of modular devices and compact setups for industrial and scientific applications. Special fibers, such as polarization-maintaining singlemode fibers, are predestined for use in complex, self-contained setups, increasing laser safety by reducing the laser safety classification. Die Filiformkorrosion ist eine spezielle Form der Korrosion, die bei beschichtetem Aluminium und niedriglegierten Stählen auftritt. Im Zusammenspiel mit Wasser, Sauerstoff und sogenannten Startersalzen bilden sich Korrosionszellen zwischen der Metalloberfläche und der Beschichtung. Ausgehend von Kratzern, Schnittkanten oder anderen Beschädigungen der Beschichtung entstehen langsam fortschreitende fadenförmige Unterwanderungen, eine Erscheinung, die auch als Wurmfraß bezeichnet wird.

Filiform corrosion is a form of corrosion that particularly affects aluminium and low grade steels that have been coated or painted. Exposure to water and oxygen enhances the production of corrosion foci that infiltrate the space between the metal and its coating. The corrosion expands slowly in fine outgrowths, like a worm that has eaten into a leaf (leaving marks known as worm trails – Wurmfraß in Bavaria!).
The filiform scanner was developed to provide an automated industrially standardized evaluation of the extent of the corrosion. Images of the highest quality are obtained rapidly by combining the bright-field illumination source and the sensor in the same measuring device.
